Track and report employee truancy

Ted Riker is a business owner who has 15 employees. They are expected to show up at 9am every weekday. Occasionally a few would be late and he found it inconvenient that he would need to log into the access control system and run 1 or sometimes more reports to find out who was late this morning or who has not shown up yet. Sometimes he was on the road or with clients and wouldn’t show up at the office for weeks at a time. Ted wanted to know who has not shown up by 9:30am via an email or text message. The Protector.Net access control system was able to utilize its server side scripting engine (ACE) to email and text Ted a short email every morning at 9:30 am with a list of employees who have not entered the building that day.

Card counting and limiting

Fred Jones has a set of employees that he wants to restrict how many times their credentials will work each day. These cards should only work 3 times in a day. After the third access granted, he wants the cards to be disabled. This feature isn’t native to most access control systems, including Protector.Net.Fred Jones has a set of employees that he wants to restrict how many times their credentials will work each day. By utilizing ACE, a script was created that will use a custom attribute on each user. This attribute will represent how many times that card is allowed to be used each day. Every time one of those cards is granted access to a reader, the server will decrement that custom attribute by one. Once it reaches zero, the credential is instantly disabled and the card will be denied access. The count can be reset at a specific time each day.

Special action card to unlock communal rooms

A church has a handful of community rooms that get rented out several times a week. It was sometimes inconvenient to access the software to set times when each community room would unlock when rented out. So management wanted a set of several cards that when used on a community room, would unlock it for either 30 minutes, an hour or two hours. These cards would be given out to the person renting the room once they arrived. By utilizing ACE, a script was created that will allow a set of designated cards to be used on the community rooms. When a community card is presented, it will unlock the door for a configurable amount of time. Can be customized even further based on any specific needs.

Alternate door schedule weekly

A factory has a set of doors to the factory floor that have unlock schedules during each shift, but the shifts alternate to nights every other week. Currently they must log into the software every Sunday and switch which weekly schedule the doors are following By utilizing ACE, a script was created that would run every Sunday morning to switch the door schedule on the factory doors to match the shift changes each week without user intervention.

Public to secure on sunrise and sunset

A local Cafe has an interesting quirk, as part of their marketing the cafe will only open at sunrise and close at sunset. This proved difficult to do automatically with the access control system as the schedule would need to change every couple weeks to stay accurate. By utilizing ACE, a third-party service on the internet could be calculated to give back the exact time of sunrise and sunset each week. The script would then modify the existing door schedule whenever these times we’re updated, removing the need for manually changing schedules.

Set all doors to public on first credential in

A dentist office is utilizing “First Credential In” so that the doors will remain locked until a manager or the owner shows up for the day. Currently the manager must swipe at 3 of the doors he wants to make public each morning, which requires more time each morning than they have due to the distance between these doors. Occasionally he will forget and the doors will remain locked. By utilization ACE, a set of rules can be implemented so that once the manager or owner swipes at any door in the morning, all the public doors will go from locked to unlocked. This saves time and is convenient.

A medium sized business has an attached warehouse to their office building. It was sometimes inconvenient to access the software to set times when each community room would unlock when rented out.
